can anyone tell me the correct lucas part number for a mk2 starter motor? The one I have fitted is M35J 25345A with 2 mounting holes but I'm not sure it's the correct part. Thanks

M 35 yes your part number is later might have been rebuilt so who knows M35J 25157J is what is listed.
If you were to post in electrical i would pick it up faster.

Thanks for the info. There seems to be options for both 9 and 10 toothed gears. Is there a preference or does it just depend on the flywheel?

Depends if the ring gear has been changed two types as well .

Best to try the gear on the ring gear to many ifs or buts.

I think I have a brand new starter that I'm never going to use. Let me know if you're interested and I check the part number etc.
